LL-37

Studied in host-defense research

The body's own host-defense peptide — used to support immune function, antimicrobial activity, and skin / wound-environment health.

Overview

LL-37 is the only cathelicidin produced by the human body, a host-defense peptide present in skin, mucosal surfaces, and immune cells. It is studied in the context of innate immunity, antimicrobial activity, and wound-environment research. Published human use is largely topical and investigational; injectable wellness use is not supported by completed clinical trials.

Evidence: primarily pre-clinical / limited human data

In consultation, clients often ask

What's actually known about LL-37 vs. what's marketed.

Whether topical or systemic approaches make sense for my situation.

Regulatory & sourcing

Not FDA-approved. Not on the 503A bulks list. Pre-clinical literature notes that LL-37 has both pro- and anti-inflammatory effects and has been implicated in certain autoimmune pathologies (e.g., systemic lupus erythematosus) — relevant for screening.

Any decision to proceed, the specific peptide selected, route of administration, dosing, monitoring, and pricing are determined one-on-one with our nurse practitioner during consultation.
